Artists: Nathalie Rey and Enric Mauri
At the independent artist-run space Vorfluter Projektraum, Nathalie Rey and Enric Mauri's collaborative exhibition, “Oh Dear Shall I be too late!” takes inspiration from the sense of urgency embodied by Lewis Carroll's White Rabbit. From a secular perspective, this exhibition critiques the destructive economic materialism stemming from hedonism. It sheds light on the pursuit of happiness through consumption, contrasting it with the complexities of human existence, drawing attention to significant issues such as planned obsolescence, overpopulation, climate change, and subthemes like dissatisfaction and loneliness. Mauri and Rey offer a socio-political critique of social stratification, ethics, and environmental conservation. The exhibition transforms familiar objects from various scenes of the Berlin metropolis into a sanctuary within the exhibition space, stripped of their original contexts and rendered instrumental.
Both exhibitions will be open for viewing until the end of September, providing a platform for art enthusiasts to explore contemporary themes and artistic expression in the vibrant city of Berlin.
